Use a partner to ensure proper fit. This will be a long, hot process. It’s best to start with a painters suit/coveralls (~$10), but you can use a onesie, or thin pants and a long sleeve shirt you don’t mind destroying.
Expect to use 2-5 rolls of high quality duct tape depending on your size.
Do this in strips or the DTD will be too tight!
#1 First, wrap around your armpits, groin, and stomach to prevent shifting.
#2 Next, tape around your upper chest and back under your arms. Tape over your shoulders.
#3 Then, tape down your hips and legs, make sure the groin and butt fit well.
#4 Next, tape up your stomach and back. Take a deep breath before taping up your chest, saving your arms last.
#6 Finally, draw lines as depicted, these will be your cut lines. Make sure to draw X’s along these lines.
#7 Don’t forget to mark where you want any zippers to go. It would also be helpful to actually draw your suit markings onto the dummy, but that’s not necessary.
#7 Cut yourself free using scissors, and be careful.
Let the suit air out, and it’s ready to be shipped.
Tips
- Prop your arms up on something shoulder high. Try using a broom stick, high chair, or counter.
- Hydrate! You are going to sweat, a lot.
